Notre Dame confirmed Thursday that outgoing 5th year senior defensive end and captain Kapron Lewis-Moore suffered a torn ACL during the 2nd quarter of Monday night's national championship loss to Alabama.
Lewis-Moore will have surgery in the next 10 to 14 days and the recovery period will be 4-6 months.
The news is crushing because it means that Lewis-Moore will not be able to participate in any NFL combines, will still be recovering when the NFL Draft occurs and won't be healthy until Training Camps begin in July.
“I’m a fighter,” Lewis-Moore said Monday night in the Irish locker room. “I’m going to come back from this, and you’ll hopefully see me playing sometime soon.”
Lewis-Moore was known for his joyful attitude off the field and his fiery spirit on it. He was a major reason Notre Dame made it to the national title game and his legacy will recognize that.
