Brian Kelly's Thursday press conference was a pure injury report.
No, really. The five minute, two second newser featuring like two questions that didn't have to do with the injuries the Irish are facing.
Kelly confirmed that senior linebacker Steve Filer is out for the season after tearing his ACL in a freak non contact situation during Wednesday's practice. Filer, a senior, will not play a game at Notre Dame again. Because of that, teammate Darius Fleming will wear Filer's #46 jersey to honor his friend.
The good news on the injury front is that defensive end Ethan Johnson will finally return to the field after being out since the Purdue game on October 1st with an ankle injury. Kelly said there's "no question" Johnson will play Saturday against Maryland.
Kelly also said that Aaron Lynch (ankle) and TJ Jones (head) will play as well.
Center Braxston Cave, lost for the season with a ligament tear in his foot, had successful surgery on Thursday.
Notre Dame faces Maryland Saturday at 7:30 at Fedex Field in Landover, Maryland. Despite being in the Terps backyard, the game is considered a Notre Dame home game. You can see it right here on Channel 16.
