Mishawaka, Ind. A tailgate recipe for every college team? Ray Lampe, also know as Dr. BBQ, has 125 different chow-down recipes for game day.

The BBQ guru visited South Bend in order to display two special recipes for the Notre Dame game v. Oklahoma Saturday: the Oklahoma Steakhouse Nachos and the South Bend Grilled Golden Dome Pork Chop Sandwich.

Lampe and his "Cookoff Before Kickoff" crew drew in shoppers at the Mishawaka Sam’s Club on Friday afternoon. Free samples of the competing foods were distributed and three randomly selected people were chosen to judge which dish should come out on top.

"I think that the steakhouse nachos are really good," Lampe said. "However, right here in Mishawaka, there might be a little biased judging and the the golden dome barbecue might triumph."

Three judges took their time in savoring the nachos and sandwich. Lampe said that overall, the South Bend crowd remained loyal to the pork chop.

All of the ingredients for these two dishes can be found at Sam’s Club. Oklahoma fans should be sure to grab ground sirloin, sliced mushrooms, tortilla chips, and crumbled bleu cheese. And those Notre Dame fans should pick up Heinz mustard, boneless pork chops, and pretzel buns.

"We know there's a big game tomorrow, but I'm not that worried about the game. I just want to make sure people eat well," Lampe said. "If you take on the job of cooking for your friends, take it seriously and cook something special.
