Michael Floyd had an impressive showing Sunday at the NFL Combine. The former Irish receiver showed he had a lot more speed in his 220 pound body than people give him credit for.
"I'm really happy for him, he's worked really hard for this opportunity," Irish coach Brian Kelly said Monday. "For Mike, that 40 time takes away a lot of the questions they had about his speed. Now he can just focus on the skill development and doing that every single day."
Floyd is considered by many to be rising in the 1st round, possibly into the top 15. The biggest questions he will have to answer moving forward are about character and about his issues with alcohol in the past.
"I think that depends on which perspective you take," Kelly said. "I think what happened in his past, is what is going to make his future even brighter. He's experienced setbacks, he's had to make changes in his life."
"I think if you are honest with yourself, you'd rather have someone who has had that experience, has made the mistakes and has learned from it. It's a perspective, but that would be my perspective."
The NFL Draft begins April 26th.
