Prized Notre Dame wide receiver recruit Davonte Neal is transferring high schools, according to the Arizona Republic. Neal has left Chaparral High School and is now enrolled at Phoenix Central. Personal reasons have been stated as to why Neal is making the change.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly couldn't comment too much on the situation on Monday but did grief a positive update on Neal's status with the Irish.
"There are a lot of things from our standpoint, that we are still getting information on but he's going to have academics taken care of and that's really the most important thing for us," Kelly explained.
I asked Kelly if he felt Neal will be good to go for the Irish.
"We've had the conversations with the people necessary relative to academics, and we feel confident."
Neal signed his national letter of intent to attend Notre Dame last week. He made headlines because he was scheduled to announce the decision at his elementary school but no-showed due to 'personal reasons'. Neal returned later in the day, apologized to the kids and announced he was going to Notre Dame.
