With many of his high school classmates and friends watching, Ronnie Stanley reached over and grabbed a Notre Dame hat and put it on. Two teachers then came over with an Irish flag and began waving it as the crowd cheered on.
Stanley, a 4-star offensive lineman, announced he will play for the Irish next season.
He's a rather large addition for Irish coach Brian Kelly. Standing 6'6" and weighing 285 pounds, Stanley is also quick off the line and can put a hurt on his opponents.
He comes out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. Gorman HS was founded by the Hammes Dwyer Mowbray family of South Bend.
Stanley chooses Notre Dame over Nebraska, Arkansas, USC, Stanford, Missouri and Miami. He is the 16th verbal commitment for the Irish in this recruiting cycle.
