Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly says Everett Golson is maturing steadily and growing into the quarterback the Fighting Irish need him to be.
Golson has a powerful arm and quick feet but he also makes mistakes that are sometimes hard to overcome. But the mistakes are dwindling and the big plays are growing. Kelly is counting on him to be a key factor as the Fighting Irish (9-0) try to make a push for their first national championship since 1988. The Irish play at Boston College (2-7) Saturday.
Kelly says Golson showed what he's capable of in leading the Irish back from a two-touchdown deficit against Pittsburgh. He says Golson has to play cleaner and be more efficient, but he continues to grow and mature.
