Judge Robert Miller had a special welcome at Notre Dame Stadium Saturday, he was honored for his military service with the reverend William Corby CSC Award.
Miller was presented with the award during halftime at Saturday's game, in front of a packed stadium. We caught up with him and his family at a tailgate earlier this afternoon.
Miller tells us this award brings up many of his experiences at sea with his shipmates during World War II, memories that he still cherishes.
LT. Comdr. Robert l. Miller, explains how much the award means to him, “The memories have been increased, exasperated, to be honest with you, I’m loving every minute of it. There’s probably at least 20,000 military veterans who are part of ND alumni, and to be picked out of that many, it’s overwhelming, that’s wild.”
Mindy Moore, daughter, explains the families thoughts on him receiving the award, “I can tell you for sure this is the crowning glory of his life and so thrilled. and for all us, it's like we've always known he's deserved it.”
Miller was a naval officer and has also received a purple heart.
