Irish practice in Stadium to gain more comfort with home field

Notre Dame is changing up its weekly practice schedule to include a practice every Thursday inside the Stadium.

"It's important that our guys feel comfortable in there," Irish coach Brian Kelly said Thursday after the first run through of the new plan. "I felt at times that we ran into the Stadium like we were running into the Basilica or into the Grotto. We are running into the Stadium... to a football!"

"We were in there just six or seven times last year," Kelly continued. "By going on Thursday, I want guys to feel comfortable in the stadium, to feel comfortable in the locker room, in the tunnel, on the field, on the sidelines. We practiced there [Thursday] and now we are ready for Focus Friday and get ready to play Purdue."

Notre Dame and Purdue will kickoff at 3:30 on Saturday at the Stadium. Countdown to Kickoff gets you started at 2:30 on Channel 16.
