Kelly excited for Ireland trip but would rather play game in U.S.

The Irish football departs for Ireland in exactly one week's time.

Notre Dame will land in Dublin next Wednesday in preparation for their season opener against Navy on September 1st.

There's a lot of logistics the Irish are working on and that problems some frustrations for Irish coach Brian Kelly.

"I love everything about Ireland," Kelly said this week. "But I'm not a big fan about playing football games in Ireland. I'd rather play them right here."

"It's going to be a great trip for our alums, all those those that follow us. It's going to be great for Ireland and we are pleased about that but as it relates to football, I'd rather not travel six hours to go play.

Kelly says Navy must do the same thing and best will have to do prepare to make the best of the situation.
