There's no question Saturday's game against Notre Dame and Purdue could come down to the play in the trenches. Both teams have their biggest strengths in these areas.
"They're awfully good across the line of scrimmage," says Boilers coach Danny Hope. "They have heck of an offensive line. Big and strong and experienced and veteran offensive line."
And that unit will go against a Purdue that impresses Irish coach Brian Kelly.
"Very stealth defensive line," Kelly explains. "Obviously (Kawann) Short and (Bruce) Gaston are two very, very good defensive linemen, as good as we are going to see during the year. "
Kelly feels Notre Dame's front seven on defense can win his team games this season and Purdue respects that group which is led by two Irish captains in Kapron Lewis-Moore and Manti Te'o.
"They do have a dominate front seven but I'm excited to prepare for it and see what comes along for Saturday," Purdue offensive lineman Trevor Foy says.
"Purdue's offensive line is huge," explains ND's Lewis-Moore. "They are going to pose a challenge for us but at the same time I think we are talented up front. We can give them a challenge as well. It will be a hard fought battle."
