Golson will start vs Oklahoma

Brian Kelly says Everett Golson will start next Saturday vs Oklahoma.

Recovering from a concussion Golson, didn't play against BYU as Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix helped the Irish win 17-14 to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Golson was cleared to play but Kelly decided it was best that he didn't. Golson suffered a concussion against Stanford last week. The decision to not play Golson was Kelly's.

"He wanted to play," Kelly said of Golson. "He made his case. I just felt like where we were in the during and my evaluation of him cumulatively, I felt like this was the best thing to do. He was supportive. He was great on the sideline. But he clearly -- he wanted to get in there as well. We feel like we've got a kid now that's 100% ready to go for Oklahoma."

Kelly said he made the decision to go to Rees after Friday's walk thru.
