The Irish football team overcame a number of injuries on Saturday night in its 24-17 win over Wake Forest.
Starting Center Braxston Cave left the game in the 1st half with an ankle sprain and did not return.
Mike Golic, Jr. came in and played well as the Irish line didn't miss a beat.
Golic made sure Notre Dame's offense stayed on track, and that is exactly what happened.
Golic says, “The other guys out there communicated and took care of me, got me in the flow of the game, so it was good. It felt really good, and hopefully, everything looks good for Braxston going out of here. I'm happy that I could step in and do him justice...It's a physical game. Guys are out there playing hard, and things happen, so we just do our best. The guy behind steps up and basically makes it so that nobody makes a difference, like Coach Kelly always says, 'Next Man In.'"
Tommy Rees adds, "He stepped up and played huge for us. He knows that he got his opportunity to go in there and make some plays, and he did a great job for us."
Kickoff against Maryland on Saturday night is set for 7:30 p.m. on Channel 16.
