The Irish secondary has been key in getting Notre Dame to Miami, and safety Zeke Motta has helped lead them this season.

In Monday’s game Motta may have the last say. While Manti leads the defense, and Golson the offense, Motta’s job will be to support the run and to support the pass. Moreover, the title game is also a big homecoming for the secondary’s leader.

The outpouring of support for the Irish safety has been incredible said Motta, “It’s exciting to have the support of my cousins, my family, my friends, really all around down in south Florida.”

When asked if he ever thought he’d be playing in the Dolphins’ home, Motta says “I can’t say that I have.” Pointing high into the stands, Motta says he remembers seeing Dan Merino’s final game in the stadium, “looking at it now, it’s awesome.”

For Motta and many other Irish players, Monday night’s game will be their last, and it is the opportunity of a lifetime to go out in the national championship.
