Martin at Irish Pep Rally: Time to whip someone's A**

Two-year Irish captain Zack Martin rallied the Irish faithful at Notre Dame Football's 1st pep rally of the year Friday night on the South Quad. Martin had some "butting" words.

"So people always ask me, did the end of last season give this team motivation for this year? And I can promise you the only motivation this team needed was to be given the opportunity to go whip someone's a** out on that field on August 31," Martin said to cheers. "[Saturday] we have that opportunity. Go Irish!"

Irish coach Brian Kelly had to follow.

"I think that was pretty good. "He did say a**, didn't he? Whip somebody's a**? We can say that at Notre Dame - that's about it," Kelly said to laughter.

"Opening up the season of college football at Notre Dame - it doesn't get any better than this because of the fans. You can, you know, obviously go to a lot of places around the country, but I know our players, they appreciate the support, they appreciate you being here. We will play our hearts out for Notre Dame, they will play their hearts out for the students, they'll play out for their teammates, and it's going to be an incredible atmosphere, so enjoy it. Take every opportunity to enjoy the opportunity to be here at Notre Dame."

Notre Dame and Temple kickoff at 3:41pm Saturday at the Stadium. Countdown to Kickoff gets you started at 2pm on WNDU.
