Notre Dame dropped to 4th in the BCS Standings Sunday. Alabama and Kansas State remain 1 and 2 while Oregon moves past the Irish for the 3rd spot.
Notre Dame barely beat 4-4 Pittsburgh Saturday, needing triple overtime to improve to 9-0. Even if the Irish won big, they likely were dropping however.
Notre Dame was only up .001 points on Oregon in the BCS Standings. Because the Irish were playing Pitt and Oregon was playing USC, the Ducks would have closed in on the computer points no matter the result in the ND-Pitt game.
The Irish are 2nd in the overall computer rankings behind Kansas State. The two were tied for first a week ago.
With games against Boston College, Wake Forest and USC left, Notre Dame is unlikely to be able to make up ground on the teams ahead of them. They will likely need two of three unbeatens to lose if the Irish want to play for the national championship.
