A winning season is good news for football fans, but the undefeated Irish are also great for local businesses.
This weekend’s game brought in big crowds to local businesses.
Sales are up from last year at Le Peep restaurant in downtown South Bend, and they attribute that to Notre Dame's winning season.
The manager says the tables were full Saturday, and the friendly rivalry brought its share of ribbing between tables.
The 6-0 start for the Irish, along with the long distance travel of Stanford fans, brought in the crowds and money for many businesses downtown.
"This year the energy for Notre Dame is really high,” said Nate Barnett of Le Peep. “Having Notre Dame in the top five is not only good for moral of people that love Notre Dame, it is also good for football and good for South Bend, because the energy is just heightened that much more and people are coming into town, watching the games and you know. With the other games coming up we are going to have the same thing.”
Local businesses are excited to have more out of state guests this coming Saturday. The opposing team's fans will again be traveling from the west, as Notre Dame hosts BYU.
