Roger Goodell had all the reason to celebrate following the Giants Super Bowl XLVI win over the Patriots at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Not because the Giants won, but because the world's largest sporting event was a huge success. It did help that the Giants and Pats went to the game's final play.
"It was a great finish to an unbelievable season," Goodell told NewsCenter 16 Sports Director Jeff Jeffers in a 1-on-1 conversation. "That's what the NFL is all about. These unscripted finishes--nobody could have ever thought the Giants at 7-7 were going to come back and win six straight, go to the Super Bowl and win it. That's pretty amazing."
Goodell was very pleased with the way Indianapolis handled being the host city.
"Absolutely--all week---I said we had to finish it out and they did," Goodell explained.
And considering this was a season that almost did not happen because off a 7-month labor dispute, all that more sweet for the NFL Commish.
"I'm proud of the league, I'm proud of our fans, I'm proud of the players--it's a great way to finish up the season."
