High energy captain has Warsaw in girls hoops Semi-State

The level of excitement in Warsaw is sky high for Saturday as the Lady Tigers look to move on in the State Finals, and the leader of the team has made believers in a basketball crazy community.

The Warsaw Lady Tigers are living out their dream.

"It's absolutely amazing,” says Warsaw Senior Forward Jenifer Walker-Crawford. “I knew we could do it. I knew we could it."

Senior Jennifer Walker-Crawford has been a quiet lead by example Captain all season, then came the post-season.

"You've seen that emotional side coming out of her,” says Warsaw Head Coach Michelle Harter. “Getting excited, getting the girls fired up and ready to go. That just feeds into her and everyone else and the coaching staff, and it’s just exciting to see her having so much fun and the passion that she plays with and the love for the game that she has."

It's something her teammates truly appreciate it.

"Even when she's down she's in our faces saying come on, get up pick it up,” says Warsaw Senior Guard, Melanie Holladay. “If we do something good, she's right there patting us on the back praising us. That's what makes her a really good teammate.”

Walker-Crawford says there's some strategy too.

"I understand that having intensity during the game also gets into the other team's head,” explains Walker-Crawford. “If we as a team can get fired up and also have the other team be like that team is going crazy right now, and that slows them down. So having my team up and ready to go, really helps our entire game improve."

But she's the first to admit she probably can't even control that emotion right now. But she doesn't care.

"I don't,” says Walker-Crawford. “Sometimes you can see my anger, my frustration. Also sometimes you can really see my excitement and I get really emotional when I care about things and I really care about this team."

She's shed plenty of tears during the last few weeks, all ones of joys. She's hoping that continues Saturday with a win that would send Warsaw to the State Championship Game.
