Jim town is preparing to square off with fellow-unbeaten New Prairie on Friday in the martin's spotlight game of the week.
The Jimmies are 4-0 to start the season and they've won each game by 27 points or more. In fact, the only points they've given up came late in a 48-7 win over Knox.
So what’s been the key to Jimtown’s success? "The kids have done a great job of preparing for this season from last year when we lost in the playoffs through the summer and through our camp and then this first month of the year,” said head coach Mike Campbell. “So I think it's a combination of our assistant coaches doing a great job of coaching the kids up and the kids responding to it. I haven't heard any complaints about conditioning or what we have to do. They just kind of nod their heads and they do it. So they've been a nice team to coach."
The Jimmies will put their stellar start on the line Friday against a New Prairie team that’s been about as dominant in the early going this season. A win over their conference foe could mean big things are yet to come for Jimtown.
"Obviously that means we're still undefeated in the conference, and our goal of winning the conference championship is still alive,” said Campbell. “And then, just the fact that we know they're such a quality team, they're so well-coached, that would boost our confidence level as we go on."
The schools expect a very large turnout for Friday’s contest at New Prairie’s Amzie Miller Field. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at the New Prairie High School athletic office. Pre-sale tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for students, and $2 for New Prairie High School students.
