The St. Joe Indians will face a familiar foe in the 3A State Finals on Saturday when they battle Indy Chatard at Noon at Lucas Oil Stadium.
It's a rematch of last year's state finals and the 2007 championship game, both won by the Trojans. Regardless of the fact that St. Joe has lost to Chatard twice, this is the team the Indians want to face.
St. Joe coach Ben Downey channeled his inner Ric Flair pointing out the pro wrestler's famous catch phrase, "to be the best, you have to beat the best."
"Clearly they've been the best in recent history," Downey explains. "Had we played someone else, I think the game would have been an easier game to win. We have quite the challenge ahead of us but it's a good challenge."
Downey's players agree.
"If it was anyone else, I don't know if it would feel right playing them," senior defensive back Collin Hickey says. "They're such a good program---tradition and everything. It's awesome that we get another chance at them. we know what to expect with them. it just kind of comes down to executing."
Another chance certainly plays a factor too.
