Former Triton High School basketball star Clay Yeo will transfer from Valparaiso to Bethel College to continue his college hoops career.
"Clay is a tremendous fit to our institution,” stated Bethel Coach Mike Lightfoot. “He fits our core values as well as our Christian culture. He will be a big addition to the Bethel basketball program and will thrive in this setting. Clay is a very skilled player that can score in many different ways. Not only is he an offensive threat, but with his length he will really help us on the defensive end.”
Bethel will hold a 3pm news conference on Monday.
Yeo will have three years of eligibility remaining and will be eligible to play immediately next season.
The 6'4" guard/forward averaged 4.1 points per game in 28 contests for Valpo during his freshman season, starting just one game.
“Our university and program have invested a lot into Clay, and we are proud that he has became a better man, a better student and a better basketball player from his time at Valpo,” said Valpo coach Bryce Drew. “He has expressed a strong desire to be closer to his family and high school friends, so we are releasing him from his scholarship at Valpo to enroll at Bethel College.”
Yeo is Triton's All-time leading scorer, leading his Alma mater to the 1A State Title game as a sophomore and senior. Yeo scored 26 points in the state finals during his senior season.
He was an Indiana All-Star as well that season.
