Penn falls in girls hoops Semi-State

Warsaw's Tiger Den is a place the Penn girls basketball would prefer to avoid.

The Lady Kingsmen saw their season come to an end Saturday at Warsaw with a 65-50 loss to North Central in the 4A Semi-State. It's just the 2nd loss all season for Penn, both coming at Warsaw.

Western Michigan bound Alex Morton was held to just eight points. Fellow senior Tori Milliner scored 13 for Penn and Caroline Buhr led the Kingsmen with 18.

Nariah Taylor led North Central with 19 points.

Penn trailed 16-13 after the 1st quarter and 26-16 at halftime. North Central pushed the lead to 38-23 in the 3rd quarter before Penn got it back to 12 heading to the 4th.

But the Kingsmen, who won 25 games during the season, couldn't get it back to single digits.

The loss ends an incredible two year run for Penn, which reached the 4A State Finals for the first time in school history last year but lost. The Kingsmen were hoping for another crack at winning it all--instead North Central will head to the title game.
