Penn, Warsaw advance to boys soccer regional final

Senior Mitchell Boehnlein scored two 1st half goals as Penn defeated St. Joe 2-0 Thursday night at Baker Park to advance to the 2A boys soccer regional final.

The game was scoreless for the first 18 minutes when Penn converted on a corner kick. Sophomore Edson Zamora sent it to the foot of Boehnlein who ripped a one timer to the far post. A St. Joe defender was right on the post but unable to stop it for the game's 1st goal.

Minutes later, Boehnlein gave Penn, the NIC regular season championship, insurance.

The Kingsmen will face Warsaw Saturday night at 7pm at Baker Park in Mishawaka with a spot in the 2A Semi-State on the line.

Warsaw defeated Concord in shootout in the regional semis.
