Penn volleyball team looks to repeat as state champs Saturday

The Penn volleyball team shoots for its 2nd straight state championship Saturday when it battles Avon in the 4A Championship game in Muncie.

"It's very exciting---one thing I've been trying to do all week is realize how blessed we are to be here," Purdue bound senior Annie Drews explains. "So many people would kill to be in this position and we don't want to take this opportunity for granted just because it's happened. twice in a row. We have to look at it, and still enjoy it as a whole experience."

"It feels like that season never ended," senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Hickey says. "We just kept playing--different girls, different coach--but we got through it and came out to play."

Penn, 37-1, is ranked 2nd in the state. Avon, undefeated on the year, is ranked #1 in the state. Technically the Kingsmen are the underdogs, but the experience of winning it all last year gives Penn a distinct advantage.

If you are now traveling down to Ball State for the game, you can watch it locally on WHME Channel 46 Saturday at 5pm.
