Defending 4A state volleyball champion Penn is now just two wins away from returning to the state finals.
The Kingsmen rolled over Elkhart Memorial 3-0 to capture the 4A Regional Championship at Penn High School Tuesday night. Penn won 25-23, 25-20, 25-20.
The Kingsmen are now 36-1 on the season.
They advance to the 4A Semi-State where they'll face Carroll Saturday at 11am at Huntington North. If Penn wins, they'll battle Munster or Westfield later that night for a spot in the 4A state title game.
In 3A, South Bend St. Joe cruised to the regional title on their home floor with a 3-0 win on over West Lafayette. The Indians won 25-20, 25-13, 25-17.
St. Joe advances to the 3A Semi-State at Plymouth where they'll face Andrean Saturday at 11am. A victory and they'll battle either Yorktown or Fort Wayne Concordia for a spot in the state finals.
Fort Wayne Concordia came from a 2-0 deficit to edge Fairfield 3-2 Tuesday night. Concordia won 20‐25, 19‐25, 25‐19, 25‐19, 15‐12.
