Penn HS to honor '83 state championship team at Friday's Game

Penn High School will honor its 1983 State Championship team as part of its homecoming festivities during Friday night's football game vs South Bend Washington at Freed Field.

Coach Chris Geesman and more than 30 former players from the team are expected to be in attendance.

The '83 team was a special one for the Kingsmen, as it was the first team to capture a football state title. Since then, Penn has been the top team in Indiana four additional times.

In fact, the '83 state title team was the first state championship in any sport in Penn history.

The team will receive acknowledgment from the Alumni Association and Athletic Department as part of Penn's Athletes of the Decade Program.
