After leading South Bend Washington to the state finals a year ago, Antwon Jones has taken over north of the state line, at Niles.
The Vikings open up the season Friday night at Gull Lake.
Jones has brought along former Notre Dame running back Reggie Brooks to serve as an assistant.
Despite just four starters back and a program that hasn't made the playoffs in quite some time, Jones is setting high expectations.
it's being forced into them just like we did over at Washington," Jones explained this week. "We're changing the mindset. You are expected to come out and not just compete but to win games and dominate games if at all possible."
"Just like anywhere else, our goal is to play for a state championship. It's going to be excited. Our guys are gearing for a change in the way people view Niles football."
