A Mishwaka High School student is being recognized with yet another award.
The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, announced Anna Rohrer of Mishawaka High School as its 2012-13 Gatorade Indiana Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.
Rohrer is the first Gatorade Indiana Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year to be chosen from Mishawaka High School.
The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the racecourse, distinguishes Rohrer as Indiana’s best high school girls cross country runner
Rohrer has maintained a 4.21 GPA in the classroom. Also a talented musician, she has volunteered locally on behalf of area nursing homes and an elementary school drug awareness program.
“What Anna has accomplished this season, her first full season of cross country, is nothing short of astonishing,” said Mishawaka head coach Chris Kowalewski. “She’s a special talent, with an incredible work ethic and attitude.”
Rohrer will begin her junior year of high school this fall.
