Two area boys basketball teams will play for a spot in the state finals on Saturday.
Marian battles Norwell in 3A at 4pm at Huntington North High School on Saturday with Memorial and Carmel to follow around 6pm.
The Knights have never been in Semi-State before so they like the idea of keeping the celebration going.
"II want to win state," says Marian junior Demetrius Jackson. "It would be great to end the season on a "W", especially for the seniors that are going away. I've been with these guys for three, four seasons now. It would be a great experience to end it on a W."
After Marian, Memorial will take the floor in 4A playing in Semi-State for the 3rd time in school history but first since 1989.
"I'm excited for our kids," says Memorial head coach Mark Barnhizer. "This has been great for our community, been great for our school and really great for these kids. They're very deserving of it. They've earned it."
"I think our team has the potential to be one of the best teams in Elkhart Memorial history," Chargers senior Urston Smith explains. "We've been proving that so far but, a state championship or winning semi-state would make us really happy."
WNDU will have a crew at both games and have highlights and postgame reaction Saturday night.
