Marian falls in shootout in girls soccer state title game

Providence outscored Marian 3-1 in shootout as the Knights lost a heartbreaker in the 1A girls soccer state championship game Saturday morning in Indianapolis.

Marian was competing in their first state championship ever in girls soccer and played undefeated Providence to a scoreless tie through two halves of soccer and two overtimes.

The game went to overtime and Providence was able to prevail in the end.

Marian's Lauren Garatoni was named the Mental Attitude Award winner.
