Marian, St. Joe to battle in Holy War Friday night

One of Michiana's best rivalries takes center stage Friday night as Mishawaka Marian hosts South Bend St. Joe in the Holy War. It's our Martin's Spotlight Game of the Week.

St. Joe won the regular season meeting a year ago only to see Marian rebound to win the post-season matchup. This year there won't be a rematch. St. Joe is playing in 4A come playoff time with the Knights remaining in 3A.

So everything is on the line when the two parochial schools battle at Otolski Field at 7pm Friday.

For Marian, a ton is on the line. The Knights are 4-1 and a perfect 3-0 in Northern Indiana Conference play. With Penn not on Marian's schedule, the Knights can win a share of the NIC by running the table.

St. Joe, meanwhile, is 3-2 with a 1-1 mark in league. The Indians are looking to bounce back from a 40-34 loss to Adams last week and they'll face Penn next week. So Friday is a must win on many levels for the Indians.

WNDU will be live at Otolski Field on Friday starting with NewsCenter 16 at 5:30. Marian coach Reggie Glon and quarterback Devin Cannady join me live at 5:45. Then at 6:20, St. Joe coach Ben Downey and quarterback Matt Monsarez are our guests.
