The Lakeshore softball team captured its third state title in five years with a 4-3 victory over Livonia Ladywood.

The Lancers fell behind 2-0 in the first inning. Head coach Denny Dock called it the only bad inning his team played all post season, but they would respond.

In the 4th inning Lakeshore got things started with a home run off of the bat of Rachel Riedel to cut the lead to one. Then the Lancers used small ball to get a runner over to third and a squeeze bunt to bring home the tying run and it was 2-2 after four.

In the bottom of the fifth Lakeshore would take the lead on a single from Alex Forsythe. Then a sac fly from Riedel would put the Lancers up 4-2 heading in to the 6th.

Ladywood loaded the bases with two outs but were only able to get one run in the sixth inning making it a one run game heading to the 7th.

In the final inning it was the Lancers holding on to win 4-3. Coach Denny Dock won his seventh state title as a head softball coach. He is now 7-1 in his 8 trips to the championship game.
