Lakeshore softball headed to state championship game

The Lakeshore softball team came out swinging in the first inning. The Lancers plated five runs in the first to open up a commanding lead.

Denny Dock's squad would add a runs in the fifth and seventh inning to hold off a late four run charge from the Crosswell-Lexington Pioneers.

Rachel Reidel was three for three on the night with three triples and three RBI's as the Lancers advance to the state finals for the third time in five years.

The last time Lakeshore went to the championship game was in 2011 where they successfully defended their 2010 title.

Next up they will face Livonia Ladywood. The Blazers are 29-13 after defeating Waylon Union in 10 innings in the semi-finals.

First pitch for the state championship game is set 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in East Lansing
