Hoover steps down as NorthWood football coach

Scott Hoover is stepping down as the NorthWood Football coach, Panthers Athletic Director Norm Sellers confirmed to NewsCenter 16 on Saturday afternoon.

Hoover was 30-27 in five seasons as the school's head coach. The Panthers were 4-6 this season and were eliminated from the post-season with a loss Friday night at East Noble.

“NorthWood High School would like to thank Scott Hoover for his years of dedication, hard work and commitment to our student athletes, as well as to the football program and the community,”Sellers said a statement. “Coach Hoover continues to only want what is best for all of NorthWood High School and our student-athletes. Coach Hoover was the defensive coordinator at NorthWood for the 2005 3A State Championship in the 7-0 victory over Indianapolis Chatard. We wish Coach Hoover well in all his future endeavors.”

Hoover tells our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth that he plans to remain a teacher at NorthWood.
