The first snow fall of 2010 came the week of the sectional football championships. Among the battles was St. Joe taking on Jimtown.
Fitting that the 2011 first snow fall came on Thursday, the eve of the St. Joe-Jimtown rematch. This one is for regionals.
The Indians and Jimmies will go at it at 7:30 Friday night at Knepp Field, with the winner advancing to the 3A Semi-State.
St. Joe defeated Jimtown in the final seconds of last year's 3A sectional title game, 25-22 at School Field. St. Joe went on to play for the 3A state championship.
Indians coach Ben Downey knows his team will be in for challenge Friday night, but says his guys will be ready.
"Oh absolutely," Downey explains. "We know that jimtown is another one of those programs. We had an instant classic with them a year ago. We know that playing them it will be a heck of a hard hitting game, a heck of a battle. They have a phenomenal coaching staff and ton of tradition. It should be a good one."
St. Joe (10-2) defeated Marian in the 3A sectional finals last week 21-0. Jimtown (10-2) beat Garrett 34-14.
