South Bend Washington won just one game in 2013, but the good news was that it came in sectionals over city rival Clay.
And the better news for the Panthers, is that they will return 15 starters from team that took its lumps but got experience a year ago.
We have everybody back pretty much," senior quarterback Tyler White Explains. "We have our experience now. We feel like we'll be the more experienced team coming into a game than other teams now since we have more starters back."
Jay Johnson is entering his 3rd season as the Panthers head coach. His overall numbers aren't high but he's excited to have many of his best players returning.
"it helps to have a lot of your pieces back," Johnson says. "Fortunately for us, we have quite a few of those."
After winning just four total games the last two seasons, the Panthers are setting what they believe are reasonable expectations.
"We expect great things," White said. "We expect to win a lot more games this year and go farther than just sectionals."
Washington will have a tough challenge right out of the gate as they will face Concord in the season opener on August 22nd.
