Jimtown only returns 4 players on each side of the ball this season but that hasn't lowered head coach Mike Campbell's expectations from his squad.
The Jimmies have reached the sectional championship game in nine straight seasons, seven of which have been under Campbell. Coach says the key to their success has been taking each game one week at a time.
"We try to prepare them each Friday night like 'this is it,'" Campbell said. "Kids can get that in their heads and that is how they grow and get better. I am hoping that we can have a great regular season, keep building, and be injury free. Then when sectional time rolls around have a chance to win it and play in November."
Jimtown does return running back Nik Olson, who played a big role in their offense last season. As a senior Olson knows that everything they achieved last season is in the past and that his legacy will be based on what happens this season.
"We try to not think about last season at all," Olson said. "I mean that was last season. This season, we have already talked about it, is not going to go the same way. We are going to have targets on our back and we are just going to have to put up with it."
Jimtown begins its quest for 10 straight sectional title game appearances on August 22nd against Northwood.
