Friday Night Football Preview: Bremen Lions

The Bremen Lions have won three sectional championships and one regional title in their four seasons under head coach Bob Holmes.

Now, they are hoping to take things as far as ever.

"Trying to make a run for state as always," senior offensive lineman Zac Ricketts says.

Ricketts is the centerpiece of the Bremen program. He accepted a full ride scholarship offer to play Division I football next season at Ball State. Ricketts is one of 12 returning starters from a 2014 team that won the 2A sectional title.

Ricketts says the initial goal is to win the Northern State Conference title in the final year of the conference. It's the attitude the Lions like their players to have.

"We have great quality kids that come to work--bring their lunch box every day and work hard--always excited," Holmes said. "At Bremen--this community really rallies around the football program and I think they are really excited about the things going on. I know the kids are and I know the community is as well."

Bremen is just a 2A school but will play six of their nine regular season games against 3A and 4A schools. Holmes says that properly prepares the Lions for the post-season.

Bremen gets a major challenge to start the season as they travel to face Plymouth at the Rock Pile in week one on August 22nd.
