The State Championship bound Elkhart Central baseball team describes themselves as one word. Brothers. That is because their starting lineup consists of 8 seniors who have been playing together for years.

Their coach Steve Stutsmen describes it as unusual saying "Usually there is a mix of underclassmen, but this group is a special group with 8 starting seniors and they have all played together since they were six years old."

Now after growing up playing little league baseball together, then three years in high school the seniors are about to end their 31-1 season this Saturday.

Senior first basemen and designated hitter Mike Namisnac says its what they have b een working for "It is a pretty good feeling to know that from freshmen year to senior year we have worked our butts off and have gotten to this point where we can say we have a chance to be the best team in Indiana."

This Saturday will be the final time this group gets to play together as a unit. They will head to Indianapolis to take on undefeated Indianapolis Cathedral in the State Championship game at Victory Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
