South Bend Washington's Gehrig Dieter has another major accolade.
Parade Magazine named Dieter one of its six Parade All-Americans at wide receiver. It's one of the highest honors a high school athlete can receive. Dieter was also named a 1st team All-American by Max Preps last week.
Dieter announced one week ago that he will play Division I football at Southern Methodist. Already having graduating from Washington, Dieter will enroll at SMU and begin classes next Tuesday. He'll be eligible to participate in spring practice.
Dieter chose SMU over Kansas. SMU was Dieter's top choice until Kansas hired Charlie Weis as its head coach last month to make it a 2-way race. In the end, Dieter chose to help be part of the process of leading the Mustangs into the Big East.
Dieter set the national single game receiving record earlier this season with 437 yards against Elkhart Central.
