Concord and Winamac both saw their seasons come to an end, one win shy of reaching the high school football state championship games.
The Minutemen were no match for an overpowering Westfield team that cruised to a 35-3 win just outside of Indianapolis. The Shamrocks capitalized on a Trevor Wilmore interception on the game's opening drive to take a quick 7-0 lead.
After Concord kicked a field goal to get on the scoreboard, Westfield quickly moved down field and scored again. It was all Shamrocks from there.
Concord's season ends in Semi-State for the 2nd year in a row.
At Winamac, the Warriors saw their season end in heartbreaking fashion as Tri-Central scored in the game's final five seconds to defeat Winamac 20-14 in the 1A Semi-State.
Winamac made a tremendous comeback in the game, scoring two 4th quarter touchdowns to tie it up at 14. The Warriors had a chance to take the lead late in the game but a nearly 50 yard field attempt fell just short. Tri-Central drove the length of the field for the game winning TD.
Winamac was making its 2nd Semi-State appearance in school history.
