On Tuesday Night, Elkhart Central grad Nathan Palmer was just having fun on his old stomping grounds at Rice Field with current Blue Blazer players Nick and Blake Faus.
Football remains fun for Palmer even if its now his job as a wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts.
"Everything is unbelievable," Palmer explains with a big smile.
"Sometimes I wake up and I'm like pinch me because I almost can't believe that my dreams actually came true."
Palmer, who graduated from Northern Illinois 13 months ago, caught just one pass in the NFL last season--but he's made it onto the Colts active roster. And he's the same age, 24, as blossoming Indy quarterback Andrew Luck.
"I look at him sometimes and I'm like he's not even the same age--he's gotta be older," Palmer says. "There's something there. He's so mature beyond his years not only on the field but off the field as well."
Off the field is where Palmer is looking to make his mark Saturday by holding his first ever football camp in his hometown. He's hoping to inspire Elkhart's Youth.
"Here I stood in the same school that you are standing in right now and had the same dream that you have and I made it," Palmer says of what he will tell campers. "That's the message I want to give to my community--people say Elkhart is a small town but I came from Elkhart and I'm playing in the NFL. We all can do it."
