The tradition riched Bremen football program went a decade without a winning season.
Bob Holmes arrived last year and everything changed, as not only did the Lions produce a winning season---Holmes led them to a sectional championship.
Friday night, Bremen produced another historic moment defeating Glenn 35-31 at Bunge Field to capture the Northern State Conference Championship in our Pizza Hut Spotlight Game of the Week.
The win gives Bremen its 2nd undefeated regular season in school history, and first since 1990.
It was a back-and-forth affair that saw Glenn jump out to a 24-13 lead thanks to two huge touchdown runs by star running back Josh Anderson.
Braxston Miller was clutch on the ground as well, scoring two TD's of his own.
But it was a circus double reverse play that won the game for the Lions. Nate Leeper chucked a pass in track to Adam Dodson who brought it down---spun away from three defenders and took off for the go ahead touchdown.
At School Field, Penn had trouble with Adams in a preview of next week's sectional matchup between the two teams.
But the Kingsmen pulled away in the 2nd half for the 26-14 win to finish the regular season at 9-0.
Next week's sectional opener is at Freed Field.
At Steele Stadium, Gehrig Dieter caught three touchdown passes as South Bend Washington crushed Mishawaka 37-13.
Dieter becomes the state's all-time leader in career touchdowns.
At Jake Field, Mike Jones rushed for two touchdowns as Concord beat Warsaw 28-6 to capture the Northern Lakes Conference title.
In Michigan, Edwardsburg had a big start to the 2nd half rolling over Berrien Springs in a battle of unbeatens.
The Eddies captured the Lakeland Conference championship with a 42-13 victory.
