Bremen excited for challenging opener against Plymouth

The Bremen Lions will kickoff the 2014 season Friday night with a very tough challenge. The 2A Northern State Conference school will face 4A Northern Lakes Conference power Plymouth.

"To face a 4A school out of the box is always tough," Bremen coach Bob Holmes says. "They beat us pretty handily last year. We had got them the couple of years before that and we know it is going to be a war over on their field at the Rock Pile this year. Our kids are excited about the challenge."

The Lions will face six 3A and 4A schools this season and are the defending 2A sectional champions.

"It helps a lot," offensive lineman Zac Ricketts says of facing tough competition during the regular season. "Especially when we get to sectionals because we are facing bigger schools, so it helps us tremendously on facing a bigger school and pushing us harder."

Bremen and Plymouth will kickoff at 7:30 Friday at Plymouth.
