Two years ago, Lakeville native Eric Saunders was paralyzed from the chest down just days before turning 18 due to a motocross accident.

Saunders hasn't allowed that day derail his life.

Saturday night, Saunders took to the track at Plymouth Speedway racing in a dirt track car that he controls completely with his hands. His sponsor, 3-time nascar champion Tony Stewart, was also on hand to see Saunders and to race himself.

But this night was about Eric, who truly displayed that "I can, I will" attitude.

"Being out here with all the Plymouth Speedway fans, you know, its just awesome to see the support for me," Saunders said. "Being paralyzed its basically a challenge that I overcome but I am making the best of it. I'm just, I don't know, I can't even explain the words. Words that I cant even describe what it feels like with the joy and with all the people out here and it definitely is awesome with all of the support."

Stewart, took a seat on the opposite side of the packed Plymouth house to watch Saunders race front and center.

Stewart also raced himself, winning the featured race in the Sprints on Dirt event.
