Westville native Shane Sewell is hoping to jump start his career Saturday at RedBud.
The 25-year-old motocross rider has battled back from multiple injuries over the last few years and is hoping for a top notch finish this weekend on his home track in Buchanan in front of an expected crowd of nearly 30,000 fans.
RedBud is the #1 outdoor motocross race in the country.
Sewell has never finished in the top 15 there so it would mean everything to him to finally do that after all he's been through.
"That point where I could say I came back from the moments that I thought my career would come to a stop, It by no means was easy--it was all hard work and I couldn't have done it without my family so being that they have supported me my whole racing career--showing them that I'm still one of the best and that I still have the heart to do this, it would mean everything," Sewell explains.
"It almost probably bring me to tears by the end of the weekend."
Sewell's older brother Travis will not compete Saturday due to a knee injury.
The main event races begin at 1pm with the final broadcast live on WNDU at 3pm.
