Weller throws no-hitter for Silver Hawks as Velazquez extends streak

Playing a game on national television, the Silver Hawks made national headlines Thursday night.

Blayne Weller threw the game of his life as he pitched a no-hitter in the Silver Hawks 7-1 win on the road at Dayton.

The game aired on the CBS Sports Network as the Minor League Baseball game of the week.

Weller went the distance striking out 12 batters and giving up just one unearned run.

Weller stole the headlines from teammate Andrew Velazquez who reached base four times to extend his on base streak to a remarkable 69 straight games. Velazquez is closing in on the on base minor league record of 71 straight games held by Kevin Youkilis and Kevin Millar, who went on to lead the Red Sox to a World Series title in 2004. Velazquez tripled and walked three times on Thursday night.

Velazquez looks to move to 70 straight games on base Friday night when the Silver Hawks travel to Fort Wayne.

Weller is now 5-4 on the season with a 4.03 ERA.
