South Bend, Ind. Hundreds of golf balls flew across the Warren Golf Course today, to help raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation.
Nephrology Incorporated has partnered with the national kidney foundation of Indiana and dozens teed up to help benefit the organization.
Supporters warmed up before taking the course in a shotgun formation.
Officials estimate that around $60,000 have been raised so far.
The money will help those facing kidney issues, but organizers urge those who may have problems to check yearly.
"Doctors sometimes don't check the kidneys until there's something wrong and we want to stress that it's preventable,” said Development Director Janine Moore. “The progress of kidney disease is absolutely preventable and we can do that if we take responsibility of our own healthcare."
The organization has done this for 12 consecutive years and plan to continue the tradition.
