Austin Wagner and Dillon Finley both graduated from Edwardsburg High School just one month ago.
Now they are looking to make it big in the world of motocross. Saturday was an incredible start.
Both 19-year-olds qualified for the finals of 41st RedBud National in Buchanan, MI and competed with the very best riders in the country in front of more than 28,000 fans.
Wagner qualified in the 450 Class, which is the main race that was won by Ken Roczen. It's the first time Austin has qualified and he did very well finishing 28th out of 40 riders. It was incredibly impressive considering his terrible start as he crashed on the opening lap.
"I was dead last after that happened and I caught all the way up to 27th," Wagner said with a huge smile. "It was amazing. Nothing can compare to this. It means a lot. I have a bunch of family here supporting me and it means a lot."
Wagner shared a big hug with his mom Lisa after the race. Lisa, who now works at RedBud, was a 6-time amateur champion.
"I've been dreaming of this since I was little," Wagner says. "It's a dream come true. I'm glad it happened at RedBud and in front of my family."
Wagner's best friend---Finley---qualified in the 250 class and had a huge gathering of friends and family hugging him and cheering him on.
"It's awesome," Finley says. "I wouldn't want to do it anywhere else but RedBud so it's awesome to make it in here."
Finley ended up finishing 38th but just making it was a huge accomplishment.
